Role Description The 2D Artist and Animator will create visually compelling art and animations for arcade games and related experiences, aligned with Alan-1’s brand and product vision. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing characters, environments, UI elements, and visual effects, as well as producing frame-by-frame and motion-based animations optimized for in-game use. The role involves collaborating closely with game designers, developers, and product teams to translate concepts into production-ready assets, iterating based on feedback, and preparing files for implementation in game engines. The artist will also contribute to marketing visuals, event materials, and promotional content that support tournaments and community engagement. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Dallas, TX.
Qualifications
Strong 2D art skills, including character design, environment design, and UI/graphic elements for games.Proficiency in 2D animation, including keyframe animation, sprite animation, and visual effects for arcade-style gameplay.Experience with industry-standard tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and/or equivalent 2D art and animation software.Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, interpret creative direction, and iterate quickly based on feedback.Understanding of game art pipelines, asset optimization, and preparing files for integration into game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal, or similar).Strong sense of visual storytelling, composition, color, and motion that supports player engagement and clarity.Portfolio demonstrating shipped games or interactive projects, especially those with arcade or retro-inspired aesthetics.Relevant education or equivalent experience in game art, animation, illustration, or a related field.Bonus: Familiarity with arcade gaming culture, retro game art styles, UI/UX for games, and experience working with branded IP.
