Role Description The Adjunct Instructor/Graphic Design role is a contract, on-site teaching position based in Lancaster, PA. The instructor is responsible for delivering college-level courses in graphic design and related areas, including preparing syllabi, assignments, lectures, demonstrations, and critiques. Day-to-day responsibilities include guiding students in concept development, design execution, and portfolio-building, providing timely feedback, assessing student work, and maintaining accurate grades and records. The instructor collaborates with department leadership and colleagues to align course content with program outcomes, incorporates current industry practices and digital tools into coursework, and supports an inclusive classroom environment.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess an extensive background in Graphic Design, with the ability to teach both conceptual design thinking and practical production techniques.Relevant qualifications include a minimum of a BFA/BA degree in graphic design or a closely related field (masters degree preferred), a strong portfolio of professional work, and prior teaching or mentoring experience in higher education.Strong classroom and studio instruction skills, with the ability to facilitate critiques, guide project-based learning, and support diverse learning styles.Additional beneficial qualifications include proficiency with industry-standard design software (such as Adobe Creative Cloud), knowledge of current design trends and best practices, excellent communication and organizational skills, and a demonstrated commitment to inclusive, student-centered teaching.
