Position TitleBrand & Design Specialist – North Carolina, United StatesSpecial InstructionsPlease provide 2‑3 examples of your design work (graphics & video) or share a link to your portfolio in the "Documents needed to Apply" section of your application.ResponsibilitiesLead the NC Collaboratory’s visual identity, translating research into engaging and accessible material across print, digital, video, and web platforms.Produce branded reports, digital collateral, video projects, website updates, and the quarterly newsletter, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and audience alignment.Develop high‑impact digital and print materials, manage brand and asset pipeline, and oversee design projects with cross‑functional teams.Concept, storyboard, film, edit, and enhance video content, including motion graphics, for short clips to long‑form features.Maintain and optimize the Collaboratory’s website; coordinate technical updates, content publishing, and user‑experience enhancements.Collaborate with Communications, Research, and Leadership teams to keep a cohesive visual presence.QualificationsMaster’s or Bachelor’s degree and 0–2 years’ experience (or equivalent education/experience).Professional experience in visual communications, graphic design, video production, or related creative fields.Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and video editing tools such as Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or After Effects.Experience with Word Press and basic web content management.Ability to translate complex research into clear visual/video storytelling while maintaining brand consistency.Strong attention to detail, creative problem‑solving, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.Effective collaboration with research teams, leadership, and external stakeholders.Demonstrated creation of high‑quality design assets, including reports, infographics, social media graphics, and video content.Experience managing creative projects from concept through delivery.Preferred Qualifications Advanced proficiency in motion graphics, animation, and video editing.Knowledge of SEO and web analytics to optimize content performance.Experience designing and leading multi‑format communication campaigns.Experience creating visual assets for research or policy audiences at state, national, or international level.Prior experience in higher‑education, non‑profit, or government settings.Understanding of best practices in video production workflows (lighting, sound, editing).Ability to anticipate communications needs and proactively develop solutions.Special Physical/Mental RequirementsNot applicable.Required DocumentsCurriculum Vitae / ResumeCover LetterList of ReferencesMedia Presentation (portfolio or samples)Optional DocumentsCertification/licensesDegree transcriptsEqual Opportunity Employer StatementThe University is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes all to apply without regard to age, color, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation.
