Communication and Media Officer

Under general direction from the General Manager, performs professional work in the development and direction of a variety of activities designed to meet the needs and interests of the community and performs professional marketing, publications, and community relations work. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Knowledge of and Skilled in: the basic philosophies, techniques and methodologies of marketing; journalism; public relations; photographic techniques; effective writing and grammar; multi-media presentations; printing and typesetting principles and procedures; desktop publishing and graphic design; social media; organizing groups in a recreation setting; the use of volunteers; training procedures; budgeting and fiscal control; operation of office equipment; Adobe Creative Cloud, ActiveNet; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows, and other software programs to complete job duties; excellent customer service. Must be able to walk, stand, stoop and crouch for long periods; climb ladders; perform under various weather conditions. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Graduation from a college or university with a four-year degree or equivalent in, marketing, journalism, English, public relations, or related field. Two years of professional level experience in public recreation, marketing, journalism, recreation, or related field is required.
