Communication Specialist

This position will provide leadership for Health Department communication, outreach, and branding efforts. In addition, this position will play an important role in increasing the quality and consistency of communication across a wide spectrum of health topics, media sources, and audiences working with a team of Health Department colleagues with content expertise. As a Communication Specialist, your primary duties will be to: • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate traditional and non-traditional message strategies that meet the health department’s mission and goals, consider health equity, and advance health outcomes for all. • Serves as the department’s primary/lead social media administrator. Other preferred qualifications: • Candidates should understand communication theory and practices, knowledge of 508 compliance and accessibility, experience engaging a broad range of community and public health prevention partners, as well as digital media strategy and implementation • Experience in public health communication preferred.
