The Communications and Events Coordinator is responsible for editing garden correspondence in the form of: marketing, public relations, interpretation, program promotions, facilities rental, events and education materials produced, displayed, and disseminated at the SLOBG and to the community. The Communications and Events Coordinator is also responsible for the facilities rental efforts and for planning and coordinating events of San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden (SLOBG) to generate operating revenue for the Garden. This position works closely with the Executive Director, Business Manager, Operations Director, Marketing, Education and Research Committees of the Friends of the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden to share the Garden’s mission with the community. Possess excellent computer skills, including graphic design, social media, database creation and management, the ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities, exceptional verbal and written communication skills and must be able to employ tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public and staff. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to synthesize general business publications and maintain professional business correspondence.
