Communications Manager

This position presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing, thriving agency in a time of creative expansion and change. Position Summary: This position is part of a four-person development department. Reporting directly to the Development Director, the Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing the agency’s internal and external communications strategy, including marketing, branding, website development, social media, media relations, and electronic and printed publications. The Communications Manager works collaboratively with organization leadership to ensure consistent messaging regarding Food For Thought’s mission, vision, philosophy and services. Marketing & Branding • Consistently communicate agency mission, vision, values and services through all internal and external communications • Create and coordinate agency materials that are consistent with brand guidelines • Review documents created by other employees and volunteers to ensure quality and consistency with agency messaging • Create, implement and analyze communications plans with clear deliverables and metrics Website • Coordinate with other staff to update the Food For Thought website with new messaging and campaigns • Oversee website quarterly review process to ensure accuracy of website • Work with administrative staff responsible for website maintenance Social Media • Improve and implement a social media strategy and guidelines • Align social media messaging to agency mission, vision, values and priorities • Design and schedule all social media posts for agency messaging, events and updates • Track social media performance on all platforms Media Relations • Pitch and coordinate media interviews and other public presentations • Prepare talking points, fact sheets and similar materials as needed • Prepare press releases and distribute to appropriate media sources • Design press kits for agency initiatives • Update and maintain comprehensive list of media contacts • Plan and coordinate advertising campaigns and media sponsorships Other Responsibilities • Participate in department meetings, all staff meetings and occasional board/staff retreats • Coordinate Constant Contact e-newsletter • Create short videos for online communications • Plan, create and give presentations to donors, partners and other groups as needed • Other job duties as assigned Required Qualifications, Abilities and Skills: • Passion for Food For Thought’s mission • At least three years of relevant experience • Demonstrated superior verbal and written communication skills • Overall computer literacy, proficiency with Microsoft office • Demonstrated knowledge of multiple forms of media and marketing • Superior organizational and time- management skills • Ability to assume responsibility and work independently • Ability to work cooperatively and constructively with others • Self- confidence, self-direction and tact Job Status: Exempt, full-time (flexible hours) with occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
