This range is provided by New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection. The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) protects and enhances the daily economic lives of New Yorkers to create thriving communities. Responsibilities • Assist and collaborate effectively with the Senior Graphic Designer and meet project deadlines; • Attend, participate, and lead community outreach events, and assess community stakeholder feedback of Agency materials; • Assist with design of Agency materials and marketing collaterals, including but not limited to brochures, flyers, reports, advertising, inspection checklists, posters, signage, custom forms, licensing plates, stickers, etc; • Provide design support for Agency digital projects, including graphic needs for the Agency’s intranet, website, social media platforms, and multimedia presentations; • Help develop plans for public education campaigns in cooperation with other Agency staff; • Coordinate with outside vendors (i.e., printers, translation services, etc.) Minimum Qualifications • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or • Education and / or experience which is equivalent to the above. Preferred Skills • Strong organizational and time management skills; • In-depth knowledge and proficiency in graphics terminology, production procedures, and associated desktop software; • Background in Web / print design, layout, and production; • Experience working in both Mac and PC environments; • Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Adobe Acrobat Professional, and other programs; • Basic animation skills using Adobe After Effects or similar software; • Ability to troubleshoot and willingness to learn new software as needed; • Strong understanding of typography, layout, and color usage; • Experience both conceiving and implementing creative concepts; • Experience designing a wide range of print materials; • Experience handling and proofreading copy-heavy documents and ability to work with complex stylesheets; • Experience working with multilingual files; • Experience researching stock photography and working with photographers on image needs; • Experience working with outside vendors (printers, translation services, etc.
