Summary

Job Description

Long Island University seeks a highly creative designer to help drive the visual expression of the LIU brand. This role will work directly with the Senior Creative Designer to help develop compelling creative campaigns and communications that support enrollment, advancement, alumni engagement, athletics, and institutional reputation. Working across print, digital, social media, environmental graphics, events, and multimedia, they will translate institutional priorities into impactful visual storytelling while ensuring a consistent and engaging brand experience across all audience touchpoints.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Direction & Design Excellence

Design creative direction and execution of major University marketing campaigns and initiatives. Champion and evolve the LIU brand while maintaining consistency across all communications. Develop original concepts, visual identities, and campaign strategies that support institutional goals. Present creative solutions and recommendations to University leadership and stakeholders. Maintain high standards of design excellence across all marketing materials.

Design & Content Development

Design and produce creative assets for print, digital, social media, advertising, publications, presentations, and events. Lead the design of admissions materials, donor communications, athletics promotions, institutional campaigns, and flagship publications. Art direct photography, video, illustration, and multimedia content to ensure alignment with brand standards and campaign objectives. Support the visual design of major University events

Marketing & Collaboration

Partner with colleagues across marketing, web, content, social media, photography, and video to develop integrated, multi-channel campaigns.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Fine Arts, Marketing, or a related field. Three (3) to five (5) years of professional graphic design or creative services experience, preferably in higher education, nonprofit, agency, or in-house marketing environments. Demonstrated portfolio showcasing strong creative, branding, print, and digital design work. Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Experience designing for multiple channels, including print, digital, social media, email marketing, and environmental graphics. Strong understanding of typography, layout, color theory, visual storytelling, and brand development. Excellent project management, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Experience working within established brand guidelines while contributing innovative creative solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in higher education marketing, admissions, advancement, athletics, or nonprofit communications. Knowledge of motion graphics, video editing, photography direction, and multimedia production. Experience with web design principles and content management systems. Familiarity with social media advertising and digital marketing best practices. Ability to art direct external creative vendors, photographers, videographers, and freelancers.
