DepartmentCareer, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE)Position TitleCTAE Graphic Design TeacherReports ToPrincipal and CTAE DirectorWork Schedule190-Day ContractPosition SummaryThe CTAE Graphic Design Teacher is responsible for providing students with instruction in graphic design, digital media, visual communications, and related career pathways. The teacher will prepare students for post‑secondary education and careers by integrating industry standards, technical skills, employability skills, and academic content into engaging classroom and laboratory experiences. The Graphic Design Teacher will maintain an effective learning environment, supervise students, and support the mission and goals of the Calhoun County School System.Instructional Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan and deliver instruction aligned with Georgia Department of Education CTAE standards for Graphic Design and Visual Communications pathways.Teach courses related to graphic design, digital imaging, typography, layout design, branding, advertising, multimedia production, and visual communications.Utilize industry‑standard software and technology, including Adobe Creative Cloud applications and other approved design programs.Develop lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials that support student achievement and career readiness.Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.Integrate academic, technical, and employability skills into daily instruction.Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.Program ManagementMaintain a safe, organized, and productive classroom/laboratory environment.Manage and maintain graphic design equipment, computers, software, and instructional resources.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding CTAE programs.Participate in program reviews, audits, and reporting requirements.Assist with student recruitment and promotion of CTAE programs.Career And Technical Education ResponsibilitiesSupport Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), such as SkillsUSA, FBLA, or other approved organizations.Facilitate work‑based learning opportunities and industry partnerships when appropriate.Assist students in developing career portfolios, resumes, and employability skills.Promote industry certifications and credential attainment when available.Collaborate with business and industry partners to enhance instructional opportunities.Professional ResponsibilitiesParticipate in professional learning activities required by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC), Georgia Department of Education, and Calhoun County School System.Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, parents, and community stakeholders.Maintain professional ethics and confidentiality in accordance with Board policy and state law.Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, CTAE Director, or Superintendent.Qualifications EducationBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.CertificationValid Georgia Professional Educator Certificate in Graphic Design and Visual Communications Education (6-12) or eligibility to obtain certification through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.Must meet all CTAE certification requirements established by the Georgia Department of Education and GaPSC.ExperienceExperience in graphic design, visual communications, digital media production, advertising, marketing, or a related field preferred.Teaching experience preferred.Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesKnowledge of graphic design principles, typography, branding, layout, digital imaging, and multimedia production.Proficiency with industry-standard design software.Strong classroom management and instructional skills.Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community partners.Ability to integrate technology into instruction.Ability to maintain accurate records and meet reporting requirements.Physical DemandsRegular standing, walking, bending, and reaching.Ability to operate computers and instructional technology equipment.Ability to lift and move instructional materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.Terms of EmploymentSalary and benefits shall be paid according to the approved Calhoun County School System salary schedule and Board of Education policies.EvaluationPerformance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the Georgia Teacher Keys Effectiveness System (TKES), Board policy, and administrative procedures.The Calhoun County School System is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, religion, or any other legally protected status.#J-18808-Ljbffr
