CTE- Graphic Design and AV Teacher

**Primary Purpose:**

The teacher will be responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities and experience in graphic design and audio-visual arts. The teacher will also prepare students to develop the competencies and skills required to earn various graphic design and audio-visual arts certifications. Important job functions include teaching the curriculum and managing student behavior/safety within classroom/shop settings.

**Qualifications:**

**Education/Certification:**

**Option 1:**

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
* Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned (at least one certification from the list below).
+ Secondary Industrial Arts (Grades 6-12)
+ Secondary Industrial Technology (Grades 6-12)
+ Technology Applications (Early Childhood-Grade 12)
+ Technology Applications (Grade 8-12)
+ Technology Education (Grade 6-12)
+ Trade and Industrial Education: Grades 6-12 or 8-12 (requires appropriate work approval)
+ Trade and Industrial Education: Grade 8-12.  This assignment requires appropriate work approval.
+ Vocational Trades and Industry (requires appropriate work approval)

**Option 2:**

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
* Two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past 10 years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching.

**Option 3:**

* An associate's degree from an accredited institution.
* Five years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past 10 years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching.

(Eligible military experience may be used in lieu of civilian experience; your EPP will review for eligibility)

**Special Knowledge/Skills:**

* Knowledge and skills in Adobe Suite, Mac and PC, vector and raster formats, and working to produce physical design products.
* General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
* Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
* Establish and maintain industry partnerships for student internships.
* Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary:  Teacher/ 10 months
