Digital Press Operator - Multiple Shifts

Job Summary: The Digital Press Operator is responsible for setting up print jobs and the overall direction and productivity of the Digital Press Assistants. Responsibilities include verifying the stock, ink and text of printed documents are correct and match the work order. Additionally, the Digital Press Operator is required to make the necessary press adjustments to ensure the printed products meet GSP quality standards and print efficiency standards. The Digital Press Operator is also responsible for ensuring the digital print assistants are following proper procedures during set-up, run, and teardown of each job. Duties and Responsibilities: Ability to set up and run a minimum of two different press types Set up press in accordance with GSP and industry specifications Verify information on work order is correct Make press adjustments as required to ensure quality standards are met Meet or exceed print efficiency standards Monitor Digital Press Assistant for adherence to procedures Communicate technical issues or problems to digital manager or production managers Complete daily & weekly paperwork as required Strong grasp of GSP's workflow, processes and procedures Complete maintenance logs and report press downtime as needed Maintain cleanliness of press & press area, performing basic machine maintenance Ability to use PMS color matching book & densitometer to measure dot characteristics and colorspace Cross train in a minimum of one other area Work in other areas as needed Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED equivalent Minimum 2+ years 4-color process experience preferred Technical knowledge of print & equipment Background in graphic design/photography preferred Mechanical aptitude Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Competencies: Ability to operate large format digital presses Highly organized, with strong attention to detail Ability to manage large workload, while producing quality work in a fast-paced environment Knowledgeable in basic math, fractions and percentages Ability to pass a basic skills test Ability to communicate (read, speak, write) in English Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs Available for weekend work shifts & overtime as needed Safety-conscious with ability to perform job functions in a safe manner Ability to work alone and under minimal supervision, and work well with others Ability to contribute to building a strong and positive team spirit as well as align with GSP values
