Reports To: Senior Creative Services ManagerFLSA: Non-Exempt 10–15 hours a weekHourly $30 - $35/hr based on ExperienceLocation: Columbus (in person at Arena district office)Duration: 2-month initial contract with possibility for permanent employmentOverviewAs the Graphic Designer at Experience Columbus and the Greater Columbus Sports Commission, you will work closely with the Senior Creative Services Services on a variety of design projects to support the marketing efforts targeting leisure tourism, convention groups and sporting events in Columbus. This position gives you the opportunity to create excitement around our vibrant city and bring to life the forward-thinking brand that reflects it.By working with Experience Columbus, you are part of a team who is working to enhance the quality of life for our community. We support the travel economy by providing jobs, generating tax revenue for improved services and infrastructure, and attracting amenities—restaurants, shops, festivals, and cultural and sporting venues—that benefit both visitors and Columbus locals.Responsibilities will include:Support and assist the Senior Creative Services Manager with the execution and production of design requests that adhere to brand standardsLeverage brand templates to execute digital, print and PowerPoint needsUtilize Canva to support design efforts for the social media teamTrack and adhere to deadlines by effectively managing time and priorities with clear and proactive communicationUtilize and communicate in Wrike, our project management tool, for ongoing design projectsAssist the marketing team with media library maintenance and asset sourcingBring new ideas and inspiration to the marketing teamAttend Experience Columbus and Sports Commission functionsStay current on industry trends, community developments and use of graphic design as it relates to events, tourism, hospitality and the community.Demonstrate a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion by ensuring the inclusivity and accessibility of events and services.Knowledge, skills, experience, competencies certifications etc. in Graphic Design or Visual Communications plus 2 years in a professional role as a Graphic DesignerExecution and fulfillment of design projects using the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat PDF, Creative Cloud Libraries)Key design principles and excellent execution skills with layout, typography, alignment and colorClient Related workGoal oriented individual with the ability to take initiative, work independently and be held accountableCollaborative in nature, focused on strong relationships built on respect, trust and sharing of knowledgeVery comfortable receiving/giving productive, constructive feedback in a supportive environment; ability to take direction from design leadership and apply feedbackAn excellent communicator (written and verbally); ability to present design concepts and executionsAbility to collaborate actively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including involvement in project-related or routine status meetings, and to adapt and learn quicklyAbility to prioritize and execute multiple projects within a fast-paced work environment; successfully meet deadlines and active communication with project managers about those deadlinesWillingness to tackle both conceptual projects and production design tasksHigh attention to detail and concern for accuracyHighly organizedProficient using of Microsoft Office products; (experience leveraging these tools for design work is a plus)Passionate about the product (Columbus) and motivated to exceed expectationsExperience with the printing process and illustration skills are a plusPropensity for animation, motion graphics, photography and video work a plusMarketing knowledge is a plusSubmission of a digital portfolio/PDF with examples of work is requiredPhysical Demands:The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
