As the Freelance Digital Designer, you will produce and deliver digital graphics with a primary focus on live social media coverage of Big Ten athletic events on the West Coast. You will work within the Digital Department. This is a freelance position (September-May) offering up to 40 hours per week. This position will report to the Director, Creative Services, and will preferably be based in Los Angeles.A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIESContribute to West-Coast live event coverage by updating existing templates and assets to produce graphics for BTN’s social channels – with a focus on timely delivery, accurate information and smart creative decisionsProvide flexible design support for frequent and close collaboration with the Digital department’s live posting teamCreate custom high-impact thumbnail art for BTN’s You Tube channels to help video content stand out on the Home/Search/Browse/Suggested features to boost engagement and click-throughDesign thumbnails for features and specialized content – “The Journey,” “Crossover” series, and beyond with potential to ramp up production and refresh thumbnails for key sports highlights and weekly recurring studio programmingHelp produce marketing communications artwork for BTN’s direct-to-consumer streaming platform, B1G+, with a focus on templated platform-specific assets supporting the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) teamWHAT YOU WILL NEED2+ years of experience producing digital graphic content; accustomed to the speed of daily design productionProduction/editing experience with intercollegiate athletics programs or professional sports teamsAbility to work flexible hours, including regular evenings and weekendsDemonstrated ability to meet strategic deadlines in a dynamic environmentStrong organizational skills, with the ability to be detail oriented, proactive, and a team playerProficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and other graphics production toolsDeep knowledge of Big Ten Athletics and familiarity with Big Ten Network’s programming, talent, and brand initiativesAffinity for pop culture/emerging trends, particularly on You Tube and video-first platformsWe are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
