BACKGROUND
Jewish Federation of San Diego is looking for a designer to be the hands-on visual maker for the organization, producing everything from the daily flow of graphics our teams need to the signage, direct mail, and website design that carry our brand into the community.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Graphic and Digital Designer produces the steady daily flow of graphics the Federation needs, including social posts, event flyers, program collateral, and presentation decks, and also takes on the larger and more technical work: printed signage and event environments, annual campaign direct mail packages, the Federation website, and digital campaigns across email and social.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily Production Design
Turn around day-to-day design requests from across the organization: social graphics, event flyers, invitations, one-pagers, program handouts, slide decks, digital signage, name badges, and printed programs.Work primarily in Canva, using and maintaining Federation brand kits, so routine requests move fast and colleagues can serve themselves.Build and maintain a template library so recurring pieces are never rebuilt from scratch.Keep one organized source of truth for logos, fonts, photography, and approved assets.Manage an intake and prioritization process so requests are tracked and turnaround expectations are clear.Print and Large Format
Design and prepare production-ready files for banners, step-and-repeats, stage and event signage, exhibit panels, building and vehicle graphics, and tabling materials.Design annual campaign direct mail packages: outer envelope, appeal letter, reply device, and reply envelope, across two distinct package systems (a plain personal system for existing donors and a color system for acquisition).Manage specifications with printers and mail houses, including bleeds, color, stock, finishing, proofs, and press checks.Website and Digital
Serve as the designer for jewishinsandiego.org: page layouts, hero treatments, component design, photo selection and cropping, and design quality control on desktop and mobile.Support ongoing page builds and post-launch improvements alongside the web and content team.Design HTML email templates, campaign emails, landing pages, and giving pages.Design paid and organic social creative, including light motion graphics and short video cutdowns.Brand Stewardship
Apply and protect brand standards across Jewish Federation of San Diego and its sub-brands, each of which has its own visual system.Review outgoing work from other teams for brand consistency and accessibility.Keep design accessible: color contrast, legible type sizes, alt text guidance, and readable layouts.Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational needs.Requirements
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS
3 to 5 years of professional graphic design experience, in-house or agency.A portfolio showing both fast-turn production work and considered, larger-scale design.Fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Canva.Working knowledge of print production, meaning the ability to build a file that prints correctly the first time.Comfort designing for web and email, including responsive layout.Ability to juggle many small requests without losing the large projects.Strong collaboration skills and openness to feedback from colleagues across departments.Preferred
Claude and other AI content generation tools, WordPress or a comparable content management system.Experience with HubSpot or a comparable email marketing platform.Content and video editing.Familiarity with Jewish communal life, the Jewish calendar, and basic Hebrew typesetting.Experience designing fundraising or direct mail materials.
