What You’ll Do

As the Graphic Design Instructor, you will be responsible for creating an engaging environment where students can learn design by both understanding foundational concepts and putting those concepts into practice.

* Guide students through the creative process, from research and ideation through design development and final execution

* Provide thoughtful, constructive feedback on student work

* Encourage creative problem-solving, experimentation, and critical thinking

* Help students develop confidence in presenting and discussing their creative work

* Maintain an organized, supportive, and professional classroom environment

* Monitor student participation, progress, and project completion as required

* Collaborate with program leadership on curriculum development, student projects, workshops, and other program needs

* Participate in occasional special projects, events, or additional program activities when available

* Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills

* The ability to independently prepare lessons and manage a classroom

* A reliable and professional approach to attendance and preparation

* An interest in mentoring and developing young creatives

* Reliable transportation and the ability to consistently commute to Fifth Ward

* Previous teaching, tutoring, mentoring, workshop facilitation, or youth-development experience

* Professional graphic design portfolio or other examples of creative work

* Experience developing lesson plans, curriculum, workshops, or creative educational programming
