Graphic Design Instructor for Children

Arts4Schools is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and experienced Graphic Design Instructor to teach students ages 7 to 12 the fundamentals of graphic design in an engaging, hands-on learning environment.

Arts4Schools is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization dedicated to bringing high-quality arts education and creative learning experiences to children and schools.

Position Overview

The Graphic Design Instructor will introduce students to graphic design concepts while helping them develop their creativity, technical skills, and confidence using Chromebooks.

We are looking for an instructor who understands that this is more than showing students how to use a program. We want our students to receive meaningful, progressive lessons that help them understand the art and process of graphic design.

Students should learn how to take an idea from imagination to a completed digital design.

Responsibilities

The instructor will:

Teach graphic design to children ages 7 to 12
Provide structured, age-appropriate graphic design lessons
Teach students how to create designs using programs and applications compatible with Chromebooks
Introduce concepts such as color, typography, layout, composition, branding, digital illustration, and visual communication
Create hands-on projects such as flyers, posters, logos, digital artwork, and other creative designs
Develop lessons that build in skill level throughout the program
Encourage creativity and individual artistic expression
Maintain an engaging, positive, and organized classroom environment
Help students complete finished projects they can be proud to present

Qualifications

We are seeking someone who:

Has experience in graphic design, digital art, visual communications, or a related field
Is comfortable working with Chromebooks and web-based graphic design programs
Has experience teaching or working with children, preferably ages 7 to 12
Can explain graphic design concepts in a way children can understand
Is patient, energetic, creative, dependable, and professional
Can develop more extensive lessons rather than simply providing independent computer activities
Can successfully manage a classroom while keeping students excited about learning

Experience with programs such as Canva, Adobe Express, Google tools, or other Chromebook-compatible design platforms is strongly preferred.
