LUPE VOTES uses electoral and political organizing to win justice for working families in the Rio Grande Valley. LUPE Votes is a 501(c)4 organization.

SUMMARY

Support LUPE Votes’ mission to advance civic engagement and political power for working families in the Rio Grande Valley by creating compelling visual communications that educate, inform, and mobilize community members. The Graphic Design Intern will assist the communications team in creating visually engaging materials that support community outreach and civic engagement efforts. Responsibilities include: 1) designing digital and print assets that help establish and strengthen a network of community activists, 2) creating visual content that promotes leadership development and community action initiatives, 3) developing graphics and branding materials that support civic engagement campaigns and operations, 4) producing educational and promotional materials that communicate the value and impact of active civic participation, and 5) designing informational resources and presentation materials that highlight LUPE Votes programs and services for community meetings and events.

Compensation: (Stipend) - $2000.00 and class credit as needed

Duration: As soon as possible - November 3, 2026

Time Commitment: 10 - 15 hours per week

Location: Rio Grande Valley

ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT TO COMMUNICATIONS STAFF

Design print and digital materials for voter engagement, issue advocacy, community outreach, and electoral campaigns.
Create graphics for social media, websites, email communications, presentations, and event promotion.
Develop culturally relevant and accessible visual content that reflects the values and priorities of the communities LUPE Votes serves.
Maintain brand consistency across all communications while helping strengthen the organization’s visual identity.
Collaborate with organizing, communications, and leadership teams to translate campaign goals into effective visual messaging.
Prepare production-ready files and coordinate with vendors for printing, signage, promotional materials, and event collateral.
Support rapid-response communications needs during advocacy efforts, elections, and community mobilization campaigns.

QUALIFICATIONS

Currently enrolled in or recently completed a program in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
Provide a sample of your own graphic design work or portfolio
Proficient in Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
Strong design, creativity, and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Interest in community engagement, civic participation, and nonprofit work.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

LOCATION

In office or remote, must reside in the Rio Grande Valley for the duration of internship.
