Graphic Design Specialist

Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing, the Graphic Design Specialist provides in-house creative graphic design (both print and digital design) support to the Office of Communications and to the School. The Graphic Design Specialist actively participates as a contributing member of the Communications team and is a full-time, on-site member of the Pennington School staff. • School schedules, fillable PDFs, other items as needed for academic programs • Supports Head of School's office with design for board reports, holiday cards, and other initiatives • Parent/Student annual directory oversight • Create banner templates for emails using Composer (Veracross) • Newsletters throughout the year for residential life, and other programs • School handbooks and manuals including the Upper School Course Catalog, Employee and • Student handbooks, Humanities Skills Manual, other handbooks or manuals as developed • Athletics signage and marketing materials • Layout and design of School bulletin boards as needed • Social media graphic design support and development of assets • Assist with School signage (inside and outdoor) as needed • Charts and graphs as needed • Develops School stationery needs • Updates School branding guidelines as necessary • Works with outside vendors to maintain high standards for print materials and signage • Maintains office records of projects and jobs • Ability to direct photographers and create detailed shot lists to capture images as needed for projects • Pitches in with photography or aesthetic opinions when needed • Provides detailed specifications to ensure smooth production process • Other duties as needed and assigned • Act as a resource for students and other staff members with branding advice and graphic design projects such as yearbook, School newspaper, posters, flags, etc. Essential Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field • Five to ten years of experience with graphic design in a school or agency setting • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator • Extensive experience designing multiple types of projects and pieces, both print and digital • Terrific time-management skills and the ability to prioritize projects • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure • Thorough knowledge and understanding of print production processes (digital and offset) • Excellent eye for detail and ability to proofread printer's proofs • "Client-centered" attitude and team player • Excellent organizational and communication skills • Thrives in an environment where every day is different and brings new challenges and opportunities • Good sense of humor • Ability to accept design direction and changes from in-house clients when requested • Familiarity with Veracross and/or Finalsite is a plus The working environment is an office and school environment on a 55-acre campus.
