The Montgomery County Planning Department is looking for qualified candidates for the position of Graphic Design Supervisor. This position offers an opportunity to advance the tools we use and improve the effectiveness of our communications. The winning candidate must have a strong knowledge of ADA compliance standards related to design.Graphic Design Team Management responsibilities: • Manage the day-to-day operations of the department’s graphic design operation • Manage deadlines and meet with teams do discuss creative direction and implementation of goals • Craft and oversee the work program for 3 to 4 full-time Graphic Designers • Perform managerial administrative functions such as approving leave, approving time cards, writing and conducting performance evaluations • Meeting with Division and Department leadership to communicate progress on projects and discuss strategy as it pertains to design • Assign tasks and manage freelance designers as needed • Evaluate creative concepts of design staff and freelance designers and provide art direction to bring products to completion. • Provide quality assurance and quality control on all materials Budget Responsibility: • Track design related contracts and provide accurate information on status of contracts for Budget purposes • Articulate design team purchase requests for approval • Support the development of the Communications Division’s Budget • Coordinate printing of documents (internally and externally) Design Responsibility: • Design a wide variety of print and digital materials, including report covers, briefs, posters, direct mail, conference/event materials (including exhibit design), websites, online advertising, social media, and mobile apps, as well as email marketing, e-publications and more. • Provide layout out and formatting of documents, including conducting photo research/acquisition, as well as designing using data, such as infographics.
