General Purpose of Position The Lewis & Clark Communications team seeks an enthusiastic, innovative designer to visually support the institution’s strategic marketing, storytelling, and branding. Lead Digital and Print Strategy • Play a key role in maintaining a cohesive visual brand identity across Lewis & Clark’s three schools that aligns with the institution’s mission, vision, values, and strategic framework • Stay updated on industry trends in higher education including the latest design trends, techniques and best practices • Work collaboratively with communications team members and partners throughout the institution to conceptualize creative solutions for strategic projects, develop new ideas, and ensure high-quality outcomes • Conceptualize and design digital and print design assets for strategic communications projects initiated by the Comms team and for partners around the institution, including email campaigns, social media graphics, environmental branding, brochures, and more • Create original designs and identity systems for special projects and marketing campaigns • Create graphic images including illustrations, infographics, motion graphics, GIFs, and icons. Required Skills and Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience • 3+ years of related experience • Online portfolio that demonstrates high-quality digital and print design work in commercial or graphic art, including experience shaping visual identity and brand identity • Advanced experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and the Google Suite • Experience in video and motion graphic design using Adobe Premiere and After Effects • Experience managing complex and highly visible print jobs • Working knowledge of content management systems and CRMs • Working knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) • Strong understanding of design principles, color theory, and typography • Proficient writing and documentation experience with demonstrated success in strategic messaging • Proficient understanding of the financial and business acumen to drive profitability • Proficient presentation and public speaking • Proficient interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality • Commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace • Superior time management skills with a proven ability to efficiently manage multiple, concurrent, time-sensitive projects and priorities • Superior problem-solving abilities to meet ambiguous and multicultural needs • Extremely organized with meticulous attention to detail Preferred Skills and Qualifications • 5+ years of relevant experience • Expert knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) • Familiarity with the Slate CRM system for Admissions and Advancement • Photography skills and experience • Experience in higher education marketing • Understanding of the liberal arts education model
