The graphic designer will collaborate closely with colleagues across the organization and contribute creative approaches in sharing data, insights, and regional transportation planning information. • Design reports, brochures, guidebooks, charts, graphs, posters, schematic drawings, slide decks, dashboards, report covers, social media graphics, and other brand-aligned materials • Translate data, programs, research findings, policies, and project outcomes into clear and engaging visual formats for public, partner, and internal audiences • Collaborate with graphics team colleagues, project managers, and subject-matter experts from initial concept through final production • Support coordination of photography, artwork, and print production • Contribute to website, email, and digital engagement assets in collaboration with the agency’s communications and engagement team • Produce accessible publications, including accessible PDFs and HTML formats While the following sections describe required and desirable qualifications, candidates who believe that their particular experience and skills fulfill the requirements are encouraged to apply. Required • Strong graphic design and layout skills, with foundational knowledge of typography, composition, and visual hierarchy • Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and PowerPoint • Ability to communicate design intent and explain visual decisions to non-design audiences • Strong attention to detail, time management, and follow-through • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, fine arts, or related field or at least two years of relevant design experience Desirable • Familiarity with accessibility best practices for digital and print design • Experience with web design, HTML/CSS, or other digital tools • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace, and project management tools • Interest or experience in inclusive visual practices and user-centered design • Familiarity with the Boston region and transportation topics • Experience with ArcGIS or StoryMaps This is a full-time position. The Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is a public agency made up of a passionate group of transportation planners, analysts, modelers, programmers, and engineers working to address the Boston region’s transportation challenges.
