Pay: $23-$30 per hour, depending on skills and experience

We are looking for a designer with a well-developed eye for what looks good and the ability to explain why. You should have explored a wide range of high-quality creative work and be able to judge color, typography, composition, proportion, visual hierarchy, and overall style. We value your ability to set a clear visual direction, select the strongest ideas, and refine work into a cohesive final result.

Lefunland creates commercial playground equipment and indoor play environments. Previous experience in playgrounds, play spaces, or this industry is NOT required. Experience in branding, advertising, graphic design, editorial design, websites, packaging, or other visual design fields is welcome. We will provide training on our products, industry, and company-specific workflows.

This position requires regular attendance at our office at 8765 Aero Drive, San Diego, CA 92123. It is not a remote position.

What you will do

- Set and refine the visual direction for product catalogs, brochures, presentations, trade-show materials, websites, and social media content.

- Research and curate useful visual references, identify what makes them effective, and adapt ideas appropriately to our brand and audience.

- Use AI to explore concepts, generate and edit images, and speed up production, while applying your own judgment to select, correct, and improve the results.

- Turn product information and project imagery into polished, clear layouts with consistent typography, color, spacing, and composition.

- Identify visual weaknesses and explain specific improvements instead of accepting the first attractive-looking AI result.

- Check product accuracy, visual consistency, and quality; organize editable source files and final assets for print and digital use.

- Coordinate revisions and maintain an organized library of creative assets and reusable workflows.

What matters most

- Strong aesthetic judgment and visual literacy, demonstrated through your own work and your ability to discuss design decisions.

- Relevant hands-on design experience. We welcome experience across different industries and visual disciplines; playground-industry experience is not required.

- A portfolio showing thoughtful use of color, typography, composition, and visual storytelling, with a consistent level of quality.

- A strong interest in collaborating with AI and an ability to guide it with clear references, evaluate alternatives, and refine the output.

- Practical ability to use design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma, Canva, or comparable applications to finish and deliver the work. Visual judgment matters more than the number of software tools you know.

- Attention to detail, clear communication, willingness to learn our products, and the ability to manage feedback and deadlines.

- Ability to work on-site in San Diego.

Video editing, motion graphics, photography, and print-production experience are additional strengths. Coding and a particular degree are not required.

Please send your resume and three design projects you personally created, using portfolio links or PDF samples. For each, briefly explain your role, the design objective, and why you chose the visual direction. Projects from any industry are welcome.

Include an AI-assisted design example, either among the three projects or as an additional example. Explain which AI tools you used, how you selected the result, and what you personally changed to improve it. Before-and-after examples are helpful. Share only work you are permitted to disclose.

Please confirm that you can work on-site at our San Diego office. We are looking for strong visual judgment and transferable design experience, not prior knowledge of the playground industry.

Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
