Position Title: ​​​Graphic Designer​​​ I

Position Summary
Ignite curiosity and fuel a passion for discovery, experimentation, and critical thinking through events and education programs at Pacific Science Center. PacSci is an iconic Seattle Center institution, serving the community with our award-winning, onsite and online interactive programs. We are hiring a Graphic Designer to create marketing and creative collateral for our programs and events.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Understand and execute PacSci mission and brand across all work
• Create and design layouts for print and digital marketing, including posters, flyers, and advertisements
• Prioritize and manage multiple projects within design specifications
• Perform retouching and manipulation of images
• Liaise with external vendors, especially printers
• Work with PacSci teams to execute creative briefs and strategy for projects
• Light copywriting, including assisting with writing advertising copy, taglines, and copy-editing
• Proactively communicate project needs, delays, or blockers to stakeholders as soon as practicable

Position Requirements
• Graphic Design Theory (Typography, Color Theory, Composition & Layout)
• Experienced with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, Figma
• Excellent project management and ability to meet tight deadlines
• Ability to excel in small team environment
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and complete projects under tight deadlines
• Ability to work with employees at all levels
• Act as a team player and have a positive mental attitude
• Maintain organized digital project files

Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor's degree (in graphic arts, design, advertising design, or other related field) OR 1–2 years of professional experience in graphic design
• Compelling portfolio of work over a wide range of creative projects, including print layouts, digital advertisements, video, and animation
• Demonstrable familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
Preferred
• Illustration experience
• Experience in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects
• Background in advertising, marketing, education, fundraising, and/or non-profit
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
• This position requires availability to work onsite at Pacific Science Center three days per week.
• Majority of work will take place at a desk and using a computer.
• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Must occasionally be able to maneuver around the PacSci campus.
• This position requires communication over phone, email, video, and in-person, including the ability to present to individuals and groups.
• Will be occasionally required to move objects up to 25 lbs.
• The noise level varies from low to moderate.

Compensation
Pay is based on several factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and years of experience.
In addition to base salary, all employees receive:
