This role is responsible not only for developing compelling packaging designs, but also for coordinating the label approval process from concept through final print production.This position plays a critical role in launching new products by working cross‑functionally with QA, Regulatory, Commercialization, Sales, customers, and printers to ensure packaging artwork is accurate, compliant, and delivered on schedule.The ideal candidate combines strong creative skills with excellent organizational abilities and deep production knowledge and is comfortable managing multiple packaging projects in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment with minimal oversight.Position ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop food packaging and labeling, including labels, cartons, pouches, shrink sleeves, and merchandising materialsEnsure all packaging complies with FDA labeling requirements including nutrition facts, ingredient statements, allergen declarations, and regulatory elementsPrepare production‑ready artwork and manage revisions through the print processCreate mockups, renderings, and presentations for internal and customer reviewsManage packaging artwork projects from concept through final approval and release to printCoordinate the internal label approval process with QA, Regulatory, Commercialization, and Sales teamsReview customer artwork submissions for compliance with regulatory and brand standardsCommunicate directly with printers and vendors to manage proofs, revisions, and production timelinesTrack project progress, approvals, and file releases to support successful product launchesMaintain organized archives of final artwork and packaging documentationWork closely with internal teams to ensure packaging aligns with brand standards and product requirementsSupport commercialization timelines and new product launchesAssist in troubleshooting packaging or print issues when neededParticipate in creative reviews and contribute ideas to improve packaging and processesDevelop marketing collateral, sales materials, and merchandising graphics as neededCreate product renderings, mockups, and visual presentationsAssist with photography and image editing when requiredPosition Requirements5+ years of packaging graphic design experience, preferably in food, cosmetics, or similar CPG categories.Strong packaging and production experience with print-ready file preparationSolid understanding of FDA food labeling requirementsAdvanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat)Strong typography, layout, and design skillsExperience working with printers and reviewing print proofsExcellent organizational and project management skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneouslyStrong communication and problem-solving skillsExperience supporting private label customersExperience coordinating packaging approvals and working with cross-functional teamsExperience with packaging die lines and production specificationsExperience creating renderings and mockupsExperience in a fast‑paced manufacturing or CPG environmentPortfolio required: must showcase original CPG/food packaging designs personally created by the candidate, demonstrating full concept-to-execution experience. Applicants without hands‑on design work will not be considered.Pay and BenefitsThe pay for this role in the state of CA ranges from $74,000 - $85,000 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location.
