Graphic Designer / Vehicle Wrap Designer

Madison Graphics Co. Sun Prairie, Wisconsin

Vehicle Wrap Designer — Madison Graphics (Sun Prairie, WI)

Full-Time | In-Shop | $25–$27/hr, DOE

Madison Graphics Company is a 3M-certified vehicle wrap and window tint shop in Sun Prairie, WI. We've been putting bold, sharp designs on fleets, box trucks, and daily drivers since 2012 — including a seven-year contract wrapping the Madison Metro transit fleet. We're looking for a designer to join our team full-time.

This is not an entry-level position. We need a working designer who can own a project start to finish — someone who can look at a weird curve, a rivet line, or a customer's half-baked idea and figure out how to make it work, not just make it pretty on a flat screen. Vehicle wrap experience is a big plus, but a strong general design background with real client-facing experience will get you in the door.

What You'll Own

Design isn't just "make the art" here — you'll own the process from first client call to final file. That means:

Client communication — you're the primary point of contact once a project hits the design phase. Design questions get answered by Design, not relayed through someone else. One business-day response time on client design inquiries.
Chasing down missing details — if the brief isn't complete, it's on you to go get what's missing, not wait around for it. Document what you gather.
Running the creative consultation — talk to the client directly (phone, video, or in-person) before design work starts. Capture color preferences, style references, must-haves, must-avoids, and get it into the project record.
Proofs and revisions — deliver proofs, explain your choices, manage revision rounds through to approval, and flag anything going over the agreed revision limit.
Production-ready files — bleed, resolution, color profile, verified vehicle templates where applicable, and a completed pre-submission checklist before anything goes to production. File errors caught downstream are a Design accountability.
Asset and brand library upkeep — keep client logos, brand files, and templates current, organized, and version-controlled.
Deadline accountability — flag at-risk timelines early, not at the point of production. Rush jobs get communicated immediately.
Self-QC before anything goes out — proofread copy, verify current logo versions, confirm dimensions and resolution, every time.

What You Need

Design experience required — you've worked as a designer with real clients and real deadlines, not just a portfolio project
Highly proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop — this isn't optional, and it isn't "I've used it a few times"
Strong communication skills — you'll be talking directly with customers, not working in a silo
Ability to think outside the box and problem-solve when a design doesn't translate cleanly to a real-world application
Self-motivated and organized enough to manage multiple projects and deadlines without things falling through the cracks

Nice to Have

Experience designing for vehicle wraps, fleet graphics, or large-format print
Familiarity with vehicle templates and print-and-cut workflows
Familiarity with 3M or Avery wrap film products
An eye for social media-worthy work — we document a lot of what we do
