ARO is looking for a temporary Graphic Designer (Wide Format Specialist). Position is responsible for designing and producing high-quality large-format graphics across campus. This role combines creative design with technical production expertise to ensure all materials are visually impactful, brand-compliant, and production-ready.
This is a temporary position for approximately 15 weeks, hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
$250 hiring bonus after 30 days of employment
Key Responsibilities:
Graphic Design & Production
Design graphics for wide-format applications including signage, banners, wall murals, window clings, and promotional materials
Collaborate with clients to understand project goals and branding requirements
Ensure all work aligns with UTSW brand standards
Wide Format Production & Prepress
Prepare print-ready files (scaling, bleed, resolution, color profiles)
Operate and support wide-format equipment (flatbed and roll-to-roll printers)
Set up files for various substrates (vinyl, canvas, rigid materials)
Perform proofing, color calibration, and troubleshooting
Project Coordination & Delivery
Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Communicate timelines, revisions, and expectations with clients
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of finished products
Finishing & Quality Control
Support finishing processes (trimming, mounting, laminating, contour cutting)
Ensure final output meets quality and durability standards
Continuous Improvement
Recommend new materials, products, and capabilities
Support innovation and service expansion within Print Services
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field (or equivalent experience)
3–5+ years of graphic design experience with a focus on wide-format printing
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong understanding of color management, file setup, and print production workflows
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in an in-house or commercial print environment
Hands-on experience with wide-format equipment (e.g., Arizona, Colorado, Colex)
Knowledge of RIP software (ONYX, Caldera)
Familiarity with web-to-print systems (Pressero, WebCRD)
