Graphic Designer/Prepress

Overview:

We're seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Prepress Graphic Designer. This role goes beyond traditional graphic design, requiring expertise in preparing and assembling final files for print and large format production. If you're ready to take on a dynamic position that combines creativity with fast-paced technical prepress print production, we want to hear from you!

In addition to prepping files for print, you may be called upon to make changes to customer layouts including text and images, create a new product or design, adhere to client style and brand guidelines, solve creative and technical issues. It is required that you maintain a clean and organized client file so that other designers can easily pick up where you left off on future orders.

Today’s print clients demand a tight turnaround. At Crown Press we strive to do everything possible to make the production process faster, without compromising our high quality standards. You must be a natural at quickly spotting and correcting errors in customer files using preflight software, spellcheck, and visual inspection.

Training will be on-the-job, and it is important to be attentive and be able to quickly understand instructions, retain and recall information, and put processes to use in a complex, fast-paced environment with little supervision.

Requirements:

Graphic design experience with a strong portfolio that includes layout design for print.Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat; Pitstop and imposition software a plus.Experience working with Apple computersA clear, working knowledge of file types and color spacesA keen eye for aesthetics and potential mistakesExcellent learning, recall, focus, and organizational skillsAbility to estimate time needed to complete workAbility to work independently, methodically, and meet deadlinesExcellent communication skills both written and oral for collaborating with internal staff and clientsExcellent spelling, grammatical, and basic mathematical skills (inches to decimal), which you will use daily.Helpful and Preferred for this position:
