The Graphics department at The New York Times is looking to hire an experienced engineer to build interactive applications, infrastructure, and tools that power our visual journalism. Build and maintain software used by graphics developers to render and publish visual journalism.Build and improve pipelines for ingesting, processing, and displaying large data sets like national election results and statistical models.Facilitate and guide contributions from other developers to our core software libraries.Maintain automatic cloud tooling to support high-frequency publishing, data ingestion and data analysis.Sketch and quickly build prototypes of interactive applications, graphics and other types of multimedia story forms.Ensure compliance with web performance and accessibility standards.Collaborate on news deadlines with a multidisciplinary team.Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.You will report to the Director of Interactive Platforms For roles outside of the U.S., information on benefits will be provided during the interview process.
