Internship – Graphic Design

Villa Albertine, The French Institute for Culture and Education, in New York City is seeking a part-time Graphic Design Intern to collaborate on social media, writing, research, and press-related projects, starting September 2026. This internship is open to students currently enrolled in universities or colleges in the US. 

I. Overview

The Graphic Design Intern will work closely with Villa Albertine’s Communications team on the visual promotion of key initiatives during the Fall 2026 semester. Projects include the Lafayette Fellowship, Albertine Conversations, a series highlighting the 5th anniversary of Villa Albertine’s residency program, and special cultural events featuring renowned artists and creators such as Thomas Jolly.

Through these projects, the intern will gain hands-on experience in cultural communications, visual storytelling, and event promotion while contributing to campaigns reaching audiences across the United States.

II. Job Description

As part of these communications campaigns, the intern will:

Graphic Design 

Adapt existing InDesign and Canva templates with new content for invitations, social media posts, flyers, banners, and other marketing materials  Create new simple templates in Canva, InDesign, PowerPoint, or Microsoft Word using established visual universes (fonts, colors, graphics) 

Content Creation/Editing  

Edit or create text, photos, or visuals used in branded materials

Coordination

Liaise with colleagues to collect content notes and specifications   Liaise with external vendors (branding agencies, external designers)  Coordinate the printing process from start to finish

III. Requirements  

Professional experience working as a graphic designer or graphic design intern  Strong knowledge of Canva, InDesign, and Photoshop Exceptional eye for aesthetics and visual sense  Excellent photo editing skills  Art direction skills: capacity to pair written and visual content to make a statement or communicate a mood Language: French (reading, speaking, writing): Intermediate/Advanced; English (reading, speaking, writing): Bilingual/Native speaker  Bonus: Strong knowledge of Instagram platform intricacies, new features, trends, and marketing tactics  Bonus: Strong copywriting skills  Bonus: Video editing experience for social media 

IV. Eligibility 

This position is open to students enrolled full-time at American colleges and universities. Please note that we cannot accept candidates who have already graduated from university; high school students; or students who require a visa to work in the United States. 

The Graphic Design Intern will work a maximum 3 days/week for a total of 20 hours/week. A mutually convenient weekly schedule will be determined on the candidate’s start date. 

The Intern must be based in or near New York City and available for frequent in-person meetings at 972 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY. 

Please note that this is an unpaid position, but we are happy to work with the selected candidate to secure school credit.
