About the RoleWe're looking for a driven Junior Video Editor & Graphic Designer to join our fast-paced team in Washington, DC-the epicenter of political action. This hybrid role puts video production front and center (shooting and editing) while blending in graphic design, all to create standout organic social media content for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and X.This is a junior-level position (not entry or senior) for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and wants to shape political narratives through multimedia.Key ResponsibilitiesVideo Production and Post-Production (60%)Shoot and edit dynamic video footage in DC using DSLR/mirrorless cameras or smartphones.Edit short-form videos (15-60 seconds) for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and X, incorporating cuts, transitions, text overlays, music, and sound effects to amplify political messaging.Transform raw footage into polished, platform-specific clips that tap into trending formats.Graphic Design (30%)Design bold static graphics, infographics, and simple motion graphics for social media posts, Stories, or video thumbnails using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or After Effects.Build reusable templates for quick deployment.Keep visuals on-brand with a sharp, politically charged style that complements video content.Collaboration & Support (10%)Team up with our DC-based social media crew to brainstorm and roll out content ideas on the fly.Tweak videos and designs based on rapid feedback, often delivering edits within hours to match the news cycle.Maintain an organized asset library (video clips, graphics, templates) for instant use in our high-speed environment.Required Skills & QualificationsExperience1-3 years in video editing, graphic design, or a related creative role (internships or freelance work count).Not entry-level or senior.Technical SkillsStrong skills in Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro X for video editing.Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for graphic design.Basic knowledge of After Effects for motion graphics is a plus.Experience shooting video with cameras (Canon EOS, Sony Alpha) or smartphones (iPhone 14/15 Pro), including basic lighting and audio setup.Familiarity with video optimization (H.264, MP4), basic color grading, and audio mixing for social media.Social Media & Political KnowledgeUnderstanding of organic social media video trends and formats on Instagram, TikTok, and X.Excitement for the political scene and ability to adapt quickly to campaign messaging.Soft SkillsThrives in a high-pressure, deadline-driven setting.Creative, detail-oriented, and skilled at storytelling through video and visuals.Team player who can pivot based on feedback in a fast-moving environment.Nice-to-Have (Not Required)Experience with mobile editing tools like CapCut or InShot for quick turnarounds.Familiarity with Canva for rapid graphic prototyping.Insight into social media metrics (views, engagement) to refine content.Past work in political campaigns, advocacy, or DC-based media.What You'll GetA chance to create video-driven content at the core of Washington, DC's political landscape.Skill-building in video production and design within a tight-knit, high-energy team.Exposure to organic social media strategies that influence elections domestically and internationally.A fast-moving, ambitious team that thrives on big ideas and rapid execution.How to ApplySubmit your resume and a portfolio highlighting:Video edits (especially short-form social media clips).Graphic design samples showcasing your creative style.
