Lead Exhibit Fabricator

**The Position** We seek a full-time Lead Exhibit Fabricator who can help our group design, develop, and build custom exhibit installations. We often embed digital systems into the objects we create, such as the multitouch displays built by our product manufacturing team or custom exhibits designed by our Creative Services group, and the ability to artfully adapt a design, often on the fly, to the evolving needs of these other departments is critical to our success. The position also requires some leadership skills and we expect the Lead Exhibit Fabricator to organize small fabrication teams either with the oversight of the Director of Fabrication or independently. We are a fast-paced company with high expectations; we seek someone who is as passionate about the work as we are. **Requirements** * 3 years minimum general shop experience * 5 years experience with woodworking * Demonstrated ability to fabricate complex projects, both individually and in a team (Please include a portfolio of previous work with the application) * Ability to see a project through from concept to completion * Experience managing small teams in fabrication projects * Experience with woodworking (demonstrated by portfolio) * Ability to use a variety of shop tools * Detail-oriented * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Ability to contribute to documentation and other written materials * Knowledge of ADA standards and regulations * Highly motivated and self-directed * Ability to work in a team environment * Strong organizational skills * Excellent problem-solving skills * Ability to learn quickly and adapt on the fly **Extra Credit** * Experience with SolidWorks, Fusion 360, and/or other CAD software * Experience with digital fabrication processes, especially CNC routers * Experience spraying finishes, especially conversion varnish or pre- cat lacquer * A degree in museum studies and/or experience with museum exhibits and installations * Experience with metal fabrication * Experience with plastic fabrication * Experience with fine woodworking or furniture making * Experience in object design or industrial design * Experience with rigging * Experience with electronics and electrical systems, especially microcontrollers and LEDs * Experience with UI/UX or graphic design * Experience with technical documentation * Knowledge and/or passion for history, art, or sciences **About Ideum** We are a multidisciplinary experience design firm that focuses on using emerging technologies in creative and unexpected ways.
