Magazine Art Director / Graphic Designer

Hour Media in Troy is seeking a talented, experienced art director/graphic designer to join our award-winning company. This role reports to the Creative Director and works closely with the editorial staffs of our award-winning magazines and custom publishing projects. The ideal candidate will have: • A can-do, team player attitude • A high level of design aesthetic, in keeping with our magazine brands • A good eye for detail • Ability to collaborate as part of a team and take direction well • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multitask and consistently meet deadlines on a variety of projects • Amazing typography skills • A keen eye for photography and use of color • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • A passion and appreciation for editorial design – and a clear understanding of the distinction between editorial design and other forms of graphic design • A killer portfolio that showcases thought-provoking and engaging long-form editorial work • 2-4 years of magazine design and layout experience • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, with mastery of InDesign • Proficiency with Acrobat Professional • Photo retouching and color-correction experience • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) • Good presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively with others, including internal team members and external clients • Professional appearance • Reliable transportation Benefits include 401(k), paid vacation, health insurance, dental, vision, and more.
