Marketing or Design Instructor

Learn more about our vision via the Purple Maiʻa mākia – Eahou. We are seeking a Hilo-based creative and experienced individual to join our team as a part-time Instructor for our Digital Creators course. Digital Creators is offered twice a year, with one cohort in the spring and one in the fall. Key Responsibilities: • Teach an in-person class in Puna (at Kamehameha Schools in Keaʻau) once a week, providing engaging and informative instruction to students enrolled in the Digital Creators course • Co-teach a remote class once a week on Zoom • Manage an internship program for students to gain work-based learning opportunities while supporting local organizations and businesses • Develop and deliver lesson plans that cover key topics in one of these areas: digital marketing, graphic design, storytelling, or another form of digital media • Facilitate interactive learning experiences, incorporating hands-on activities, projects, and discussions to enhance student understanding and engagement • Provide mentorship, guidance, and feedback to students to support their learning and professional development • Stay current on industry trends, tools, and technologies and incorporate relevant updates into course content and delivery • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that respects the cultural perspectives and experiences of all students • Maintain online communication platforms and records of student participation • Collaborate with other course instructors and staff to ensure alignment of curriculum and program objectives Qualifications: • Minimum of 1 year experience in marketing, social media, graphic design, or another form of creative media • Comfortable teaching adults and teenagers in a class/workshop setting • Proficiency in Canva • Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas to diverse audiences • Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a sensitivity to cultural nuances and perspectives, particularly in the context of Hawaiʻi • Must commit to being physically present in Puna (at Kamehameha Schools in Keaʻau) once a week
