The Outdoor Discovery Center (ODC) at Mountain Air is seeking a full or part- time Outdoor Center Host. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic administrator and nature-lover, with a background in nature education or outdoor recreation. They bring enthusiastic customer service to our guests and administrative efficiency to our nature program. REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES \\- Service-oriented, friendly, engaging, "people person" \\- Nature enthusiast \\- Familiar with southern Appalachian flora and fauna, particularly mammals, birds, wildflowers, and trees \\- Eager teacher and learner with boundless curiosity \\- Speaks carefully and effectively \\- Experience with and aptitude for computer-based work in general \\- Experience with and aptitude for managing organizational systems, on and off computers \\- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software \\- Enthusiasm for and experience with basic graphic design concepts \\- Wholehearted advocate for outdoor recreation \\- Ability to work consistently well with no supervision \\- Appreciation for high service standards \\- Ability to operate a retail point-of-sale system \\- Comfortable working in a country club/resort environment \\- Pro-active problem solver \\- Enthusiastic team player \\- Pays attention to detail in written, spoken, and graphic communication \\- Can hike at least 3 miles on rough trails \\- Comfortable when handling reptiles (resident corn snake and 2 turtles) \\- Familiar with western NC geography \\- Confident when talking with small groups of adults and children \\- Possesses a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and has reliable transportation (the daily commute includes a 1,500' elevation gain on Mtn. Air property).
