Location: Cold Spring, MN Department: Pattern Shop Supervisor: Eric Morrison Grade: MN-4000 Job Summary: The Photopolymer/Pattern Shop Technician is responsible for assisting in the creation of custom polymer patterns, working closely with the design team, and filling in for the Photopolymer Master Technician when needed while also supporting the Pattern Shop with backing/pouring of emblems, assisting in Expressions in Bronze (EIB) production, and filling in for the Laser Operator when needed. Duties: • Builds layout files to create the pattern required to print a polymer negative; requires the use of general computer skills, CorelDRAW, and the consolidation of multiple work orders to allow for the most effective use of materials and efficient use of production time • Reviews negatives for any flaws or errors before creating the polymer sheet • Operates polymer exposure units, utilizing printed negatives, layers of plastic, liquid polymer resin, and a UV light to create a polymer sheet • Inspects polymer sheets for any flaws or defects to ensure casting quality standards are met • Cuts individual work orders from the polymer sheet with a paper cutter, scissors, hobby knife, or laser engraver • Attaches individual polymer pieces to pre-made aluminum or plastic receivers in preparation for the casting process • Creates and builds custom receivers for the polymer pieces of unique orders; requires the use of a variety of power tools such as panel and band saws, drill press, belt sander, hot glue, measuring devices, etc. Please include information from the previous 5 years if applicable.
