Print Shop Specialist

Overview:

The Print Shop Specialist is responsible for operating and maintaining printing equipment to produce high-quality printed materials according to customer specifications. This role involves handling a variety of printing, binding, and finishing tasks while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a customer service mindset.

Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain digital and offset printing equipment, copiers, wide-format printers, and finishing equipment (cutters, folders, binders, laminators, etc.).
Review job orders, proofs, and specifications to ensure all print jobs are completed accurately and on time.
Manage workflow and prioritize print jobs to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
Perform routine maintenance on machines and troubleshoot common issues.
Monitor inventory levels for paper, ink, toner, and other print materials; request supplies as needed.
Ensure printed materials meet quality control standards for color accuracy, alignment, and finishing.
Provide excellent customer service by answering questions, resolving issues, and offering print solutions.
Collaborate with team members and other departments to coordinate projects and ensure seamless production.
Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Prepare files for print production through prepress processes, ensuring proper color management and layout design.
Collaborate with project manager and graphic designer to execute print advertising projects that align with client specifications.
Conduct quality control checks throughout the printing process to ensure accuracy in color, typography, and overall print quality.
Utilize Adobe Creative Suite for graphic design tasks as needed, including layout design and typography adjustments.
Manage workflow efficiently to meet production deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
Assist in machining tasks and operate CNC equipment when required.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols, including forklift operation as necessary.

Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or vocational training in print technology is a plus.
1–3 years of experience in a print shop or printing environment preferred.
Proficiency in using digital printing equipment (e.g., Xerox, Canon, Ricoh, or similar).
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) is a plus.
Basic knowledge of file preparation, color theory, and print production processes.
Strong attention to detail and ability to perform quality checks.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to print production.
Familiarity with quality control measures in the printing industry.
Skills in typography and layout design for effective print advertising materials.
