Print Shop Specialist/Graphic Designer

Overview:

Plan A Signs is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and creative Print Shop Specialist / Graphic Designer to join our team. This is a hands-on position for someone who is comfortable working in both graphic design and print/sign production.

The ideal candidate has experience preparing artwork for production, operating print and finishing equipment, maintaining high quality standards, and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays close attention to detail, communicates well, and understands the importance of meeting customer deadlines.

Responsibilities

Create, edit, and prepare customer artwork for print and sign production.
Use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and other Adobe Creative Suite programs to create and modify designs.
Prepare production-ready files, including proper sizing, bleeds, resolution, color settings, fonts, and layouts.
Review customer artwork, proofs, job orders, measurements, and specifications before production.
Operate digital printers, wide-format printers, vinyl cutters/plotters, laminators, cutters, and other print-finishing equipment.
Produce signs, banners, decals, vinyl graphics, posters, and other printed materials according to customer specifications.
Perform vinyl cutting, weeding, masking, laminating, trimming, mounting, and other finishing processes.
Ensure proper color, alignment, sizing, typography, image quality, and finishing throughout production.
Conduct quality-control inspections before jobs are released for installation, pickup, or delivery.
Manage multiple projects and prioritize production according to deadlines.
Work closely with the Project Manager and other team members to ensure jobs are produced correctly and on schedule.
Troubleshoot common printing, file, and equipment issues.
Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of printing and production equipment.
Monitor inventory of vinyl, substrates, ink, laminate, paper, and other production materials and communicate supply needs.
Assist with CNC equipment and other production machinery when needed.
Maintain an organized, clean, and safe production area.
Assist customers and team members with questions regarding artwork, materials, production options, and project requirements.
Follow all company procedures and workplace safety requirements.
Perform additional print shop and sign-production duties as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least 1 year of sign manufacturing, print shop, or related production experience preferred.
Graphic design experience in a print, sign, advertising, or production environment is required.
Experience with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop required.
Understanding of vector artwork, raster images, resolution, fonts, color modes, and print-ready file preparation.
Experience operating wide-format printers, vinyl cutters/plotters, laminators, and finishing equipment required.
Knowledge of sign-production materials and processes is highly desirable.
CNC experience is a plus but is not required.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
Ability to accurately follow job specifications, measurements, written instructions, and customer-approved proofs.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple jobs and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical production work.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
