RESPONSIBILITIES: Venue Rental • Manage the use of JFGSD as a venue for private events (both social and corporate) • Meet with potential clients and negotiate sales for the use of the venue • Coordinate walkthroughs, schedule, and logistics for these events • Work with vendors to arrange for catering and rental arrangements • Arrange catering for JFG special events • Direct, coordinate, and continually evaluate venue operations Additional Responsibilities: • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned including Garden events • Perform clerical and administrative support tasks as necessary, including answering phones and data management • Assist in the implementation of the collection interpretative methods and marketing • Manage JFG’s social media accounts and assist in website maintenance • Create graphics to promote venue rental and other department events and programming • Represent the Garden at Balboa Park meetings • Perform clerical and administrative support tasks • Cover gatekeepers Qualifications- Applicants MUST: • Have strong written and verbal communication skills • Have strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast- paced environment • Be able to interact professionally with a diverse clientele via phone, email, and in person • Be able to work evenings and Saturdays as necessary • Be proficient in Microsoft Office • Demonstrate proof of ability to work in the United States and have a valid California Driver’s License Preferred Qualifications: • Possess leadership qualities- be proactive, resourceful, creative and detail-oriented • A college degree preferred • Special Event experience a plus • Knowledge in graphic design a plus The Japanese Friendship Garden is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer that encourages BIPOC to apply for the position.
