Role: Production Artist - Prepress
Full-time, Onsite - Lexington, KY
Adcolor, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Prepress / Production Artist to join our Art Department. This is a production-focused position working with large-format printed décor graphics, retail graphics, vehicle graphics, signage, and related projects.
Responsibilities
• Prepare customer-supplied artwork for large-format printing and production.
• Set up, size, scale, and adjust artwork according to work orders and production specifications.
• Prepare production-ready files, proofs, templates, and installation guides as needed.
• Make design adjustments and create original graphics when needed.
• Review files for accuracy, quality, dimensions, and production requirements.
• Perform a thorough self-check before releasing files to production.
• Track time and job status and maintain appropriate job notes.
• Manage multiple projects and changing priorities, including rush work.
• Communicate questions or production concerns to the Art Department Manager/Director.
• Work closely with Art, Production, Finishing, Routing, Customer Service, and Sales.
Qualifications
• College degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, or a related field preferred; OR 3–5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Strong understanding of graphic design principles, including layout, typography, color, and composition.
• Understanding of print production and file preparation.
• Large-format, prepress, signage, or production graphics experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organization and time-management skills.
• Ability to follow specifications, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Willingness to learn and grow within a large-format production environment.

Environment:
This position is primarily performed in a professional office setting located within an active print production facility. The employee will have regular exposure to production areas where printing, finishing, cutting, laminating, packaging, and other manufacturing activities occur. The work environment may include moderate to elevated noise levels, moving equipment and machinery, printing materials, inks, adhesives, and other production-related materials. The role may require occasional movement between office, production, warehouse, and shipping areas. Appropriate safety procedures and required personal protective equipment must be followed when entering designated production areas.
