About the position Responsibilities • Lay out and produce institutional collateral and publications as directed • Finalize design projects with approval from the contracting department, graphic designer, and the associate director of brand & marketing strategy • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with the university brand • Create web/social media/digital advertising graphics and other print and digital assets • Create forms and templates for use with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Canva • Follow deadlines to ensure timely publications • Manage prepress process for print files: Prepare final files for production at the Whitworth print shop or off-campus vendor • Keep the university print shop and vendors apprised of deadline dates; meet print shop/vendor deadlines to ensure timely delivery of publications • Archive design files, images, and graphics • Keep checklists, proofs, other reminders and notification paperwork to ensure timely delivery of all communications office projects • Provide technical assistance in the completion and delivery of printed materials • Communicate regularly with clients to keep them apprised of progress on projects and provide opportunities for input and review of design proofs • Design projects according to contracting departments' schedule • Do pre-press work and collaborate with printer(s) to complete projects • Field and fulfill campus requests for images from Whitworth's photo library • Keep up to date with new and emerging design trends and contribute to what refines and shapes the Whitworth brand and story • Assist with the management and organization of Whitworth's photo archive Requirements • Associate's degree in graphic design or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience • Proficiency with Macintosh computers and Adobe Creative Cloud Apps for Mac OS (particularly InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat) • Strong interpersonal communication skills with a commitment to positive customer interaction • Ability to multitask and be productive in a fast-paced development environment • Thorough understanding of pre-press requirements and ability to work with print shop personnel to determine the best methods of printing publications projects • Knowledge of graphic design principles including layout, typography, visual hierarchy, and the use of tone and color Nice-to-haves • Experience using the Canva graphic design platform is desired Benefits • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage • Employer-matched retirement plans • Tuition remission programs available for employees, their spouses, and dependents • Life insurance and long-term disability coverage • Accrued vacation and sick leave based on full-time equivalency (FTE) • Access to an Employee Assistance Program • Resources for Christian vocation and calling • No cost access to the University Recreation Center (UREC) and the Megan E.
