Public Programs Manager

The employee is responsible for the implementation, research, and evaluation of all such programs. To fulfill the requirements of the position, PPM duties include but are not limited to: Lectures and Film Screenings - Works with the ED to produce a seasonal schedule of lectures, panel discussions, and film screenings to complement exhibition programming Schedules lectures and panels with the support of the ED to compliment exhibition programming Conducts research on films and film programming that: Complements Verge exhibitions Identifies new and re-released films relevant to contemporary art and ideas Connects with regional partners in the film community in order to create capacity building programs Sac Open Studios (SOS) - Work closely with the ED to administrate the SOS program including; Artist Outreach and Registration Fundraising including obtaining sponsorships, grants, and advertisements Lead and maintain the Sac Open Studios Planning Committee and Program Committee Partner with the Education Manager and Public Programs Coordinator(s) to develop professional development workshops and resources for participating artists Facilitate all aspects of the Sac Open Studios guide including content, graphic design, ad placement, artist information, maps, and printing. Distribution of the Sac Open Studios Guide Establishes and maintains community partnerships related to the program Coordinates art drop-off, pick-up, and installation for the preview show Partner with the Public Programs Coordinator(s) to maintain a social media presence for Sac Open Studios Partner with our Public Relations Contractor to promote the program Oversees and updates the Sac Open Studios website in partnership with our web developer and Public Programs Coordinator(s) Researches studio tours in other cities to seek out new ideas and implement best practices Visits studios during both weekends of the tour as a representative of Verge Administration and Financial Management - Prepares, monitors, manages, and evaluates the department budget Manages all aspects of Verge’s intern and volunteer program, including marketing, interviews, selection, and assignment to departments Supervises and provides academic reports to interns’ institutions, as appropriate Other - Identifies, initiates, and deepens relationships with various community stakeholders Represents Verge to a variety of special constituencies (local, regional, and national) and to the public at large Attends exhibition previews, most programs, and related events as assigned Other duties as assigned Reports to: Executive Director Supervises: associates, interns, and other support staff as needed. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES REQUIRED Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree in fine art, art history, gallery management, or a related field; Customer service experience required; Have detailed understanding of contemporary art concepts and artists; Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and computer skills; Position requires occasional evening and weekend hours; MAC operating systems preferred, knowledge of Microsoft Office, Constant Contact, Canva, and social media required. Compensation: $20-$22hr Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401k
