Seeking newspaper designers

We are looking for designers with newspaper experience and a strong portfolio. Recent college grads with relevant internships are also welcome. Work schedule is mostly evenings with some weekend hours and some holidays. Communicate with the prepress and production departments regarding quality control issues and the output of negatives Responsible for the proof of ancillary publications Communicate effectively with remote editors via appropriate channel Produce classified pages and post content to the web if applicable to assignment Curate, aggregate and edit information from syndicated, news, community organizations and residents to create the most complete publications possible Ability to learn applicable software/platforms that are specific to the HUB department Competencies & Skills Ability to work in a deadline driven environment Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment Strong communication skills Work effective in a remote environment Strong problem solving skills Travel There is no travel associated with this position Education College degree from accredited four-year college or equivalent experience required Preferred Experience Minimum 2 years newspaper design experience is preferred Proven skills in news judgment, typography, page design, headline hierarchies and editing of stories, graphics and photographs Work Environment This position operates remotely.
