Senior Graphic Designer

General Responsibilities for Department Managers Brand and Art Direction \\- Lead brand implementation across all platforms \\- Maintain brand documentation and brand guidelines \\- Respond to organizational design requests and assign as necessary \\- Manage website and e-commerce sites Operations \\- Oversee all day to day operations of design staff \\- Establish daily work routines for design staff In-Store Experience \\- Work closely with store managers to ensure the stores and customer store experience is in keeping with the brand \\- Conduct quarterly walk-through at all stores to identify updates and/or issues \\- Lead store promotions and coordinate communication with Outreach to ensure consistent message and visuals in the market \\- Responsible for Co-op branded merchandise and displays in stores \\- Plan and execute in-store signage to promote products \\- Ensure operations staff are using point of sale signage effectively Administration \\- Develop a system for maintaining and updating brand assets, including high level and in-store \\- Develop messaging hierarchy for departments and programs at the Co-op \\- Ensure annual promo/theme calendar information is in the editorial calendar and in keeping with planning displays and product promotions \\- Maintain and track project specific budgets Management Practices \\- Actively participate in management and other planned meetings \\- Meets regularly with supervisor and keeps them informed of any problems and/or ideas \\- Stay current on global trends and changes that affect the natural foods industry \\- Respond to challenging situations in a positive and professional manner including proposing new ideas or better ways of doing things \\- Demonstrate a willingness and ability to cooperate and communicate with co- workers, supervisors, staff and/or outside contacts in a timely and appropriate manner \\- Models supportive leadership qualities that motivate staff to achieve department goals and promote staff participation and team building \\- Complete goals and tasks in a timely manner, meeting established deadlines \\- Follow health and safety rules appropriate to department \\- Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes and product knowledge to staff Personnel Practices \\- Manage and oversee Production Designer or other design staff as directed by Outreach and Marketing Director \\- Actively address performance and personnel issues in a timely manner \\- Follow Co-op policies in the spirit intended \\- Ensure that evaluations of direct reports are completed properly and on time \\- Follow good documentation practices \\- Ensure appropriate safety training for direct reports \\- Ensure direct reports are scheduled appropriately Other Duties \\- Familiar with and able to explain membership system simply, efficiently and completely \\- Create when necessary, amends and/or maintains all systems which enable the graphics department to function efficiently and profitably \\- Know and promote Co-op Principals and Mission, Vision, and Values, and follows co-op work policies and procedures \\- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as directed by the Outreach and Marketing Director Requirements and Qualifications \\- Excellent customer service skills \\- Ability to work closely and cooperatively with others \\- Ability to simultaneously track and manage a large quantity of detailed information \\- Willingness and ability to learn and to meet the changing requirements of the job \\- Ability to work with little or no supervision, communicate effectively and work under deadlines \\- Basic understanding of retail concepts and of retail industry \\- Demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task, including organizational, prioritization, and time management skills \\- Effective communication skills \\- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) \\- Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premier Pro) or equivalent digital media editing tools \\- Proficient with WordPres \\- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with emphasis in design \\- Six years of graphic design experience; 2-4 years’ experience in a lead or senior graphic designer role \\- Substantial background in graphic design, print production, and web design \\- Experience in project management, environmental graphics, digital marketplaces, merchandising, and fast-paced retail environment a plus \\- Experience in managing websites and ecommerce Essential Physical Requirements: \\- Stand and walk for extended periods of time \\- Bend and stoop to grasp objects. Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat \\- Ability to climb ladders \\- Bend and lift loads, up to 60 pounds \\- Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation Work Environment: Fast paced retail grocery environment with high volume customer service.
