The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Lead the design of a software product from research through release, owning the user experience, the shared component library and overall craft standards. Partner closely with engineers and speak directly with users to turn their input into polished, shipped improvements.

What you'll do

- Shape the visual and interaction design of the product across messaging-based and browser-based interfaces.

- Establish a shared component library and grow it into a coded system that engineers and automated coding tools adopt as their default.

- Work alongside the engineering team so each feature ships consistently, with careful attention to wording, interactions and visual polish.

- Speak with users directly and convert their pain points into concrete product improvements.

- Guide projects from early discovery through prototyping, build support and release, producing demos and presentation materials along the way.

- Set high standards for quality, keep the product experience aligned with the public brand, and help define how the design function develops as the team expands.

**Requirements**

What we're looking for

- At least 5 years of product design experience, including full ownership of a product's experience.

- Hands-on experience leading a design system.

- Product design experience at respected technology companies.

- Proven ability to simplify intricate systems and carry work from identifying a user need through to a released product.

- A portfolio that is openly accessible (no locks or passwords), quick to scan, and centered on real product work with strong craft, interaction detail and motion.

- Comfort collaborating daily with engineers in a small, quick-moving company.

- A focus on product design rather than marketing or web design.

- Authorization to work in the US without visa sponsorship or transfer.

Bonus points

- A background designing for technical or business-oriented software products.

- Some front-end coding skill, enough to prototype ideas or make small interface changes directly.

- Prior experience as a founding or first designer.

- Regular use of AI-assisted coding tools.
