Sign Designer / Environmental Graphic Designer

Sign Post Studio is a growing architectural signage and custom sign manufacturing company in San Diego looking for a talented Sign Designer to join our team.

We are looking for someone who can step into an active production environment and begin designing sign packages with minimal training. Experience in the sign industry is highly preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with a strong technical design background.

What You'll Do

Design architectural, ADA, wayfinding, and custom signage packages.
Create production-ready artwork and shop drawings.
Develop sign layouts from architectural plans and elevations.
Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and sign schedules.
Prepare files for manufacturing using industry-standard software.
Coordinate with project managers, estimators, production staff, and installers.
Revise drawings based on customer comments and architectural markups.
Maintain organized project files and meet production deadlines.

Required Skills (In Order of Importance)

1. FlexiSign Experience (Highly Preferred)

This is our primary production software. Candidates with Flexi experience will receive the highest consideration.

2. Ability to Read Construction Plans

Architectural drawings
Elevations
Floor plans
Reflected ceiling plans
Sign location plans
Bluebeam experience is a plus

3. Sign Package Design & Layout

Wayfinding systems
ADA signage
Monument signs
Channel letters
Dimensional lettering
Environmental graphics
Sign schedules
Shop drawings

4. Adobe Creative Suite

Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Photoshop
InDesign is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

2+ years in the sign industry.
Experience with architectural signage.
Knowledge of ADA signage requirements.
Experience preparing files for CNC routing, printing, vinyl cutting, or fabrication.
Understanding of large-format printing and sign manufacturing processes.
Strong typography and layout skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced production environment.

Compensation

Competitive hourly pay based on experience.
