Sign & Print Designer

We're a small, busy sign and print shop in Hampton Roads, and our design queue is growing faster than our current team can keep up with. We're looking for a part-time designer who can turn client requests into print-ready files for banners, decals, and vehicle wraps — someone who's comfortable with the technical side of print design and wants steady, flexible work without the corporate grind.

About Right Sign

Right Sign Printing Company is a SWaM-certified print and signage business based in Virginia Beach, serving the Hampton Roads area since 2019. We handle everything from vehicle wraps and large-format signage to apparel, promotional products, and on-site installations — including work for local businesses, general contractors, and institutional clients. We're a tight-knit shop that values quality work and treating clients like people, not tickets.

About the Role

You'll work closely with our team to take client concepts and turn them into clean, print-ready artwork — mostly for banners, decals, and vehicle wraps, with occasional work on signage and other large-format projects.

What You'll Do:

Design and lay out artwork for banners, decals, vehicle wraps, and other large-format print projects
Prepare and check files for print — bleeds, resolution, color modes, and material-specific specs
Turn rough client ideas, logos, or reference photos into polished, on-brand designs
Apply proofs and watermarks, and make client-requested revisions
Communicate directly with clients and our team on design questions and timelines
Keep design files organized and production-ready for our print equipment

What We're Looking For:

Required:

Please do not apply if you don't have experience in design for print (web design, illustrations, motion graphics, etc.) or any print shop experience. This is a must.

1-3 years of design experience, ideally including print or large-format work
Solid working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator (Photoshop and InDesign a plus)
Understanding of print-production basics — bleeds, DPI/resolution, color modes (CMYK vs. RGB), vector vs. raster
Strong attention to detail — small errors are expensive in print
Reliable communication and ability to turn around revisions on a reasonable timeline
Able to come into our Virginia Beach shop as needed for hands-on or client-facing work

Preferred (nice to have):

Experience designing for vehicle wraps specifically (working with vehicle templates, curves, and panel breaks)
Familiarity with large-format printers or working directly with a print shop
Comfort with social media graphics or marketing materials as a bonus skill
