Essential Functions (including but not limited to):Assist in the design, revision, and production of environmental graphics and signage (interpretive, directional, regulatory, and promotional).Support the development of small- and large-scale signage, including layout, typography, and production-ready files.Help maintain and update existing signage systems across the Zoo campus, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and accessibility.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, animal care, education, and operations) to support project goals.Participate in project documentation, including file organization, version control, and basic production specs.Support fabrication and installation coordination by preparing files, mockups, or materials as needed.Assist with asset production for events and seasonal activations. Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:Junior or senior pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Scenic, Experiential Design, Digital Arts, or a related field.Beginner-Intermediate proficiency in creating vector and raster graphics using the Adobe Creative Suite or other similar programs.Working knowledge of typography, layout, color, and visual hierarchy.Interest in environmental graphics, signage systems, wayfinding, or exhibit design.Familiarity with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Detail-oriented with an understanding of preparing files for print and/or fabrication.Creative thinker with a willingness to explore ideas and iterate.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Able to work both independently and within a team environment.Interest in wildlife, conservation, education, or mission-driven design is preferred. Essential Functions (including but not limited to):Assist with asset creation and revisions for digital and print collateral using Adobe and Microsoft.Assist with managing content on the website, which could include reviewing copy and resizing images.Help manage the content on digital signage around the park.Assist with the creation of small and large scale signage throughout the park. Other Requirements:Portfolio of pieces from personal or school projects that show your understanding of Adobe software and basic principles of design.Conducts all activities in alignment with AZA standards and guidelines, all relevant laws and regulations, safety standards, and standards that ensure animal welfare.Ability to work in extreme weather conditions typical to west central Florida (i.e., heat, rain, or cold).Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.Must be willing and able to work varied and long shifts, including holidays and weekends.Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, bending, standing, and walking.Additional Requirements:If an internship offer is made, it is contingent on:Candidates seeking academic credit must have arrangements agreed upon between the Zoo and their school before beginning the internship.All offers are contingent on the successful completion of a criminal background screening and execution of a required hold harmless/liability release agreement.The candidate will be responsible for the cost of the background check (typically $25, but certain jurisdictions may have additional fees).Interns must have personal health insurance coverage for illness or injury (as volunteers and interns are not covered by the Zoo workers’ compensation program).Benefits: Internships are unpaid and are designed to meet academic requirements, as applicable, and provide valuable real-world experience for participants.
