We are looking for passionate problem solvers who want to elevate design, push boundaries and create a more resilient future.PositionThe Chicago office of SmithGroup is looking for a Graphic Designer to join our team.ResponsibilitiesDesign and/or produce high level art and copy layouts, presentations, promotional and project materials and brochures to support the goals of internal marketing strategies and/or client projects including report layouts, infographics, award submittals, and project graphics.Assist in/coordinate implementation of corporate identity.Coordinate project and other office photography and video production.Work with cross-collaborative teams; provide art direction and technology guidance.Maintain knowledge of design trends.Analyze internal client needs and recommend suitable approaches or options to consider.Help develop strategy on project-specific marketing activities as well as studio marketing initiatives.Assist in research of target markets and clients as directed.Support public relations activities, such as media pitches, special events, etc.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Marketing or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.1–3 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.Demonstrated proficiency in: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Word, Acrobat, and PowerPoint.Knowledge of MS Outlook and SharePoint programs preferred.Ability to understand principles of layout and application to marketing materials.Eye for design details, such as typography, alignment, hierarchy, etc.Ability to summarize text and craft an effective written message when needed.Knowledge of the print process, proper file setup for print production and experience working directly with print vendors.Understanding of video creation and video editing tools, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, is a plus.Knowledge of other presentation technologies is a plus.Additional Preferred SkillsMotion Design: An understanding of how to animate typography and graphic elements for the SmithGroup website, social channels and other interactive outputs in After Effects. A knack for music, transitions and timing is a plus.Digital Design: A solid foundation in UI/UX and an understanding of front-end development and/or design in Webflow would be a bonus.
