Spatial Designer | Retail & Event Spaces | Contract to HIre - Hybrid

TTH: $85K - $42.50/hour

Location: Portland, OR

An independent design studio creating branded environments is on the hunt for a skilled Spatial Designer to join our creative team. In this role, you'll help create immersive and innovative spatial experiences that blend design, architecture, and technology.

You'll lead the conceptualization and execution of projects across retail, exhibitions, events, and commercial interiors. You'll work closely with Creative Leadership, Project Managers, and cross-functional teams to bring ideas to life from concept through delivery.

What You'll Do

Design + Development

Lead design and development for spatial projects including retail environments, exhibitions, event spaces, and commercial interiorsCreate and refine 2D and 3D designs, layouts, and visualizations that meet project goals and user experience objectivesTroubleshoot and solve design challenges throughout the project lifecycleCollaboration + Strategy

Partner with Creative Directors, Project Managers, and stakeholders to align on vision, requirements, and timelinesContribute to a collaborative, creative studio cultureHelp present and communicate design concepts clearly to internal teams and clientsProduction + Quality

Stay current on design trends, materials, technologies, and software relevant to spatial designManage multiple projects at once while maintaining quality, adhering to timelines and budget constraints

What You Bring

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Spatial Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or related field2–3 years of professional experience in spatial design with a strong portfolio showing range and creative problem-solvingProficiency in SketchUp, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, and FigmaStrong understanding of spatial design principles, scale, and materialityExcellent communication and presentation skillsAbility to juggle multiple projects with strong organization and time managementExperience working in multidisciplinary teamsPassion for design innovation and a sharp eye for detail

This is a fast-paced studio with evolving project needs and deadlines. The role involves intensive design and computer work. Occasional overtime may be required to meet project milestones.
